Nuclear deal vital for India and U.S milieu, says Bush (16-0

The U.S president remained unfazed by the turmoil of political parties in India. Even as the Left withdrew its support, Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, said that the progress on the Indo-US nuclear deal would not be affected with the political inequities. The U.S President, George W Bush said that this deal was pivotal for both the countries. There were praises for the Indian prime minister for his leadership skills at home.

Both leaders are currently attending the G8 summit in Toyako, Japan. Unanimous comments on intensifying the strategic relationship were made. The meeting took place hours before the left parties withdrew their support formally to the UPA government.

With India getting vital status in matters related to global issues, the scheduled meeting of 50 minutes stretched on for a longer time. The Indian Prime Minister added that India’s relation with the U.S had never been in such good shape. The intention of the government was to enable India to stand shoulder to shoulder with the U.S, irrespective of issues like climatic changes or global economy.

The two leaders expressed mutual appreciation for each other and also commented on a closer relationship between the two nations. Bush further added that the India- Us nuclear deal was vital for both the countries. As they greeted the press, both leaders seemed to be in a relaxed frame of mind. Bush stated that he respected Dr. Manmohan Singh and it was important that the U.S continue to work on new strategies and deals so that the problems like global warming and other global issues could be addressed together.

Meanwhile problems back home elevated but did not worry the Indian Prime Minister, during his talk with the press, as preparations began for the trust vote in the Parliament. Prakash Karat and 3 other leaders of the Left parties formally announced their withdrawal to the Congress due to the nuclear deal. The Prime Minister said that the stability of the Congress would not get affected by the same.
